Ruby has come a long way, baby. This sweet girl not only regained her weight and good looks since her rescue but also has learned that life is not so bad. Thanks to the dedication of her shelter buddies, she is starting to open up and enjoy life. Ruby loves, loves, loves to lie in the sunshine, get belly rubs and just plain cuddle. She rewards her friends with an abundant, unconditional love. Ruby just had her first trip to the home of one of her shelter buddies and spent the night. We are happy to report that Ruby is housebroken and is trustworthy to just chill in the house. She is the quintessential couch potato! Ruby is also an excellent walking companion and thoroughly enjoys playing catch or tug out in the yard. If you have a quiet life where Ruby can kick back and relax, please check her out. Her ideal home would be one without children and where she can be the one and only canine.

Ruby's adoption fee is $175; she is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. Some of our pets are in foster care. If you are interested in a specific pet, please contact the shelter at (618) 939-7389 to arrange a meeting.

About Helping Strays of Monroe County

About Our Shelter...

We promote the humane care of all abandoned and stray animals in our community. We are a no-kill shelter. All of our pets leave the shelter for their forever homes micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and altered.

Founded in 2002, Helping Strays is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported entirely by donations.

Our lucky animals receive appropriate medical care, are featured on the Helping Strays website "adoption list" and are taken to several adoption events every month in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes.
