Thanks!

The Owl House is a neighbors-helping-neighbors program in rural Spencer NY, assisting low-income and senior residents as they spay/neuter their outdoor cats. Many of our cats and kitten are shy with strangers and therefore were not accepted by shelters. Cats and kittens are adopted into indoor-only homes to reduce the burden on local shelters. We often deliver our cats so adopters must be within at least two hours of Spencer. An adoption fee of $50 payable to our veterinarian is asked, but is waived if the new adopter purchases (for their own use with their new cat) a piece of sturdy cat furniture with a scratching feature suitable for a large cat. This is verified when we deliver the cat. Thank you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Archer, a Spencer Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Spencer, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Spencer.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Spencer already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Spencer breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Spencer paves the way for another one to be saved.
