✰✰ MADDIE Female 1 1/2 years & AVAILABLE - for more photos of MADDIE please click http://norcalbcrescue.org/maddie_2016.html ✰✰
This beautiful girl came into rescue as a stray. She has the sweetest temperament and is affectionate with everyone she meets. MADDIE is about 1-1/2 years old and she weighs 45 lbs. She has the classic black and white Border Collie markings and has a medium length silky coat. Although she came into foster care with seemingly no previous training, her foster mom says she is very smart (of course, she’s a Border Collie)! She is quickly learning what is expected of her in the obedience and manners department. MADDIE is very food motivated and is fun to work with because she has such excellent focus and seems eager to please. She will sometimes go through all the “tricks” she is learning just to get her reward as fast as she can, though she can be stubborn at times, if allowed to be. MADDIE gets along well with other dogs with similar energy and temperament. She would also make a great only dog. She is definitely a dominant (alpha) female who will stand up to another dominant dog if need be. Otherwise she would just love to play with them.
MADDIE does well on leash but would defiantly benefit from additional training. Once she develops trust and is bonded to you she will walk nicely off leash (in safe areas only). She even “checks back in” with you to make sure that you are coming. This girl has not shown any destructive or aggressive behavioral issues in her foster home. She is over affectionate and loves to cuddle. She also likes to play ball along with running and chasing her foster brothers. Being a young Border Collie, she has spurts of high energy, but, all in all, she tends to be mellow in the house. Outside, she will usually have her nose to the ground investigating every nook and cranny. MADDIE is a medium energy dog who will not be content to just lie around. Daily exercise is a must! If you’re looking for a dog to try one of the many dog sports, MADDIE just might be your girl. MADDIE has made great advances while in her foster home. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate or on her bed and loves car rides. Like a number of border collies, she is a little sensitive to thunderstorms and may retreat to a safe quiet place, such as a closet.
MADDIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (http://norcalbcrescue.org/adopt_info.html) and wish to enquire about MADDIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
MADDIE is being fostered in Nevada City in Nevada County, California.
