need a forever home

Hi, I’m called “Bones” because when I was caught in trap baited with food, I was literally a “Bag of Bones.”  I also had a skin condition, numerous parasites and was positive for heartworms.  Well, now you’d never know I’m the same dog!  My skin is looking good, and I’m going through heartworm treatment. After a long wait, I have a wonderful foster home.  I’ve learned to play and cuddle, and in return for the love I’ve received, I’m very, very observant to protect my friends.  I don’t bark much usually, unless I hear something strange or think there’s danger near!

I am about 3 or 4 years old and 70 lb, moderately active and friendly.  I’m house trained, and I know “sit.”  Because of the trap, I was scared of the kennel at first, but I’m getting more and more confident about going inside.  I’m making progress on leash walking too!

Foster Mom says I’m just a very “good and sweet boy with a great personality” who will fit in with just about anyone – families, couples, singles, and the elderly too! I can be flexible – though I adore balls, squeaky toys, and playing fetch, I’m also OK with just hanging out around the house.  I love people once I get to know them, and I like being around other dogs.  But I’ll also be OK with being the only dog if I’m getting plenty of love from you!

I’m so very appreciative for the kind and generous care I’ve received! And so hopeful that soon, my loving Forever Family will take me home at last!

Thank you for considering adopting a new family member. Most of our adoptable dogs live inside foster homes.  Fostering teaches house manners, helps to potty/crate train and accustoms the dogs become familiar with the sights, sounds of living in a home environment.

About Dogs 2nd Chance - Munford

About Our Rescue Group...

Dogs 2nd Chance is a 501[c]3 non-profit dog foster group that was founded in the fall of 2007. We are a group of VOLUNTEERS that saw the need to help medium and large mixed breed dogs find permanent loving homes. We have evolved to help any size dogs. We are NOT a shelter. We receive no government funding and depend on our minimal adoption fees, donations and our own bank accounts.

All of our dogs are fostered in our homes and become a temporary active member of our family. Fostering helps to socialize the dogs, helping them adjust to life in a family setting. The majority of our dogs were abandoned, dumped or found running stray. We attempt to reunite lost dogs with their owners by placing ads in local newspapers and online classified ads. Additionally, we rescue dogs from high kill shelters as space allows. We are caring for the castaways by saving one dog at a time.
