Hi there...my name is Sharpie (Shar-pay). Get it? “Shar-pie” because I am a Shar Pei. Not a great joke, but I like to start my pitch with something funny.
As I said, I am Sharpie and I am the “wrinkled face” dog. And I am very “sharp.” No pun intended, Shar Pei’s are intelligent, playful, active, brave and can be dominant if you don’t take the leadership role (translate to stubborn). I’m not mean; I just take on the leadership role. And as unusual as I look, I was originally bred as a working dog—you know, herding, hunting, tracking. I know, I know, I do sound like a great dog, and I am! I am about 3-years old, I weigh 40 pounds and I love all humans, big and small. And even when I was rescued from the animal shelter, I was gentle and sweet with everyone. I get along great with other dogs, small and large, and dog-savvy cats are probably okay with a slight BUT—if a cat runs, I—must—chase—it!
I am up to date with all my shots and I will be neutered before I am adopted. The only small thing is...the vets says I have heart worms, but I have the very lowest kind, stage 1. I am starting my treatment soon, and then I will be as good as new for you to adopt me. And it is a good thing I am house trained because I don’t like crates! I get anxious and bark.
But I love to snuggle and play and I would love a fenced yard so I can romp. And if you have another dog to play with me...I would be in heaven. So, fill out an adoption application at the address below and come meet me!
