Dexter is fostered in Waukee IA 50263, through United Yorkie Rescue
Dexter is a 7year old, 10 lb. male Yorkie who came to United Yorkie Rescue in September 2016. Dexter was surrendered by his owners due to potty issues noted specifically marking in the house. Since arriving to his foster home he's been on a regular potty schedule and has been going outside with no in house marking issues. He does wear a belly band when not under supervision to prevent marking or potty accidents in the home while he's learning the ropes and until his behaviors are established. Dexter gets along very well with all family members. He enjoys children, men & women. He also interacts well with the other dogs in the home. He's most happy sleeping in a bed with humans; he's loves being with his people and will make a wonderful companion. Dexter is neutered and up to date on shots. Dexter's ideal forever home will require a solid/secure fence, no exceptions. He runs with speed and enjoys chasing rabbits and other wild life. His previous owners had a problem with him escaping from the home. Dexter wants a home with lots of attention, regular exercise and a fenced yard to run and play in. He's a smart, affectionate Yorkie seeking an affectionate and patient forever family. Dexter's new family will need to continue working with Dexter on consistent potty training. This would mean pottying on a regular schedule and rewarding experience. Are ready for this big bundle of love to leap into your heart?

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Process and Conditions
Please read the following carefully:
Completing an online application request is the first step in the adoption process. The placement process includes Personal and Vet Reference checks, and a home visit. The home visit may include bringing the foster dog to interact with you, your family, and any other pets. Your responses and your home situation will be evaluated in relation to those of other applicants and will take into consideration the foster dog’s needs in a forever home. If you are approved, there will be an adoption agreement that you will sign at the time ownership is transferred and you will pay an adoption fee. In order to adopt a UYR foster dog, you must be over the age of 25 and financially able to provide for a dog’s vetting and care.

Adoption fees for our foster dogs are set based on the age, health, conformity to breed standard, and behavior/needs of the dog. Adoption fees typically range between $100-$700 and are not negotiable; the adoption fee rarely covers the costs of vetting and rehabilitating the foster dog. If you wish to learn more about how our adoption fees are established, click here. Adoption fees are not considered donations and therefore are not tax deductible.

Out-of-State Adoptions
Out-of-state or long distance adoptions may be permitted in some situations at the discretion of the foster home and team leader. Please note that UYR does not ship dogs via air cargo. Adopters are responsible for traveling to the foster dog’s home, either by car or plane, to pick up the dog. Some airlines permit dogs to travel with an individual in the cabin as carry-on baggage. You will need to purchase a pet ticket and pay for a health certificate if required by the airline or state. All these expenses are above and beyond the adoption fee. Before completing the online adoption application for a dog located outside your state of residence, please email the foster home to determine if an out-of-state adoption would be considered.

If you understand and agree to the conditions listed above, have confirmed that the dog of interest is located near to you, and you wish to proceed with your application, please click here to be redirected to our online adoption application.
