ADOPTED ON 01-19-17 - Miller is an absolutely beautiful Yellow Lab mix who, along with his siblings, had the misfortune of being unwanted and discarded. Never has a puppy been luckier, however, than to be abandoned on an angel’s doorstep days before he is born, and is now on the road to a very happy ending.

Miller’s mom was very pregnant when she was dumped on a stranger’s porch. This wonderful elderly lady would have it no other way than to care for Miller’s mom and her new litter. There are not very many people with as big a heart as hers. She did the best she could on a meager fixed income to feed and care for 6 dogs, but it became too much. She sought help from the local sheriff’s office who found her a shelter to bring the pups to. The shelter spayed momma dog and returned her to the woman (the two had bonded and were now inseparable) with the promise that all “her babies” would be found good homes. The litter of pups were in such good health from the wonderful care they had received that the shelter wondered if this loving lady had skipped meals to feed all the dogs. Such giving hearts are rare and this family was blessed to be placed on her porch that day.

Today, Miller is a happy, healthy, good-natured puppy who loves people and other dogs. He is active, and loves to walk and run. He would make a wonderful jogging companion. Miller absolutely loves the water, so trips to the beach or lakes are a must! As with all puppies, Miller needs a lot of patience and love to teach him all the things he needs to know, but so far he is a sweetheart and would make a great addition to a home with children or active adults. Would you open your heart to Miller and give him a forever home?

For Miller to be so amazing despite his unfortunate trials and tribulations, it's even more amazing to witness this dog's unswerving ability to love and trust. It is inspirational for us to watch a wise old senior not give up; Miller’s mom’s heart was clearly broken and wounded from having been abandoned by a family that was supposed to love and cherish her. Miller’s mom and an elderly angel is the reason that we rescue, and we will remain as committed to his responsible re-homing. These dogs simply deserve nothing less than the best family of what the world has to offer him.

ABOUT THE BREED
PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CHECK OUT THE SECTION BELOW: RDVG wants to provide you with as much information as we can because some of our mix breeds you might not be familiar with. The below section on “About the Breed” offers information on some of the Breed Characteristics, Children & Pets, Behavior and Personality, Temperament and more.

It is important to point out that in addition to the breed, there is an enormous variety in the way a dog acts and reacts to the world around him. In the end, your dog's preferences and personality are as individual as you are--and if you can accept that--then you're bound to enjoy each other.

YELLOW LABRADOR RETRIEVER

ABOUT THE BREED
Labs are healthy dogs and generally will live long lives of 10 to 14 years and are one of the most popular breeds in the USA because they are loyal, loving, affectionate and patient, making great family dogs. They are highly intelligent, good-natured, very willing and eager to please; they are among the top choices for service dog work. They love to play, especially in water, never wanting to pass up the opportunity for a good swim.

These lively dogs have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human leadership and need to feel as though they are part of the family and are easily trained. This breed of dog is wonderful with people of all ages, and interacts well with children.

PET COMPATIBILITY
If a Lab has had plenty of exposure to other dogs, cats, and small animals, and has been trained, he'll be friendly with other pets, too. They get along well with other dogs and can easily adapt to live with other small pets.

CHILDREN
Not only loves kids, he enjoys the commotion they bring with them. He'll happily attend a child's birthday party, and even willingly wear a party hat. Like all dogs, however, he needs to be trained how to act around kids — and kids need to be taught how to act around the dog. As with every breed, you should always teach children how to approach and touch dogs, and always supervise any interactions between dogs and young children to prevent any biting or ear or tail pulling on the part of either party. No dog, no matter how friendly, should ever be left unsupervised with a child.

TEMPERAMENT
The Lab is a wonderful family dog that gets along with all members both big and small, rarely are they aggressive. They are very loving and affectionate and are eagerly playful. Labs have a very positive temperament and get along with most strangers.

PERSONALITY
Lab loves to run, swim, and play with children and adults alike. They are extremely loyal to their owners, hard-working and are generally good-natured, originally a type of gun dog. Labs are extremely versatile and have been put to use in the following roles: hunting, guide dog for the blind, police k9, search and rescue, drug sniffing, retrieving, as well as tricks and competitive obedience.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!
