It was Fathers Day, but we made it to Mothers Day. A very pregnant Daisy was tied up outside a house with a note. The note stated that the family moved away and could not afford to take care of Daisy and the pups she was about to have. Fulton County Animal Control brought Daisy in. Two days later, she gave birth to a litter of 10. 8 boys and 2 girls. The pound is no place to have a litter of pups. Our trusted volunteer, Claire, stepped up for Daisy and her babies. We broke this family out of the pound on Fathers Day. They are now settled into foster care and doing very well. Daisy is also heartworm positive.
Daisy has been a fantastic momma and she has been super sweet. We are not sure how Daisy was treated previously, but she is now shy around people. She tends to squint her eyes and cower or run away at sudden movements. It takes her some time to become comfortable in a new environment, but she very sweet and has a lot of love to give. Daisy loves other dogs and she spends about 25 percent of her time playing with her doggie foster sibling. The rest of the time, she spends sleeping or snuggling. Another confident dog in her forever home would likely help Daisy. Daisy also does great with kitties! Daisy has some separation anxiety, but she does well in her new heavy duty crate and is getting better as time goes on.
Daisy had her heartworm treatment on March 13th, 2017 and will be on restricted activity for the next 6 weeks. All of her puppies have been adopted and Daisy is still patiently waiting for her chance at a forever family.
