Pokie adopted us. One day a few months ago my wife came out to her car and Poki was sitting on the hood of her car. It was clear that she was someone’s cat so we tried to find her owners. During our search we fed her on our patio and of course she became a fixture. We could not find out where she had come from however we know that she has been fixed and cared for in the past because she was in pretty good physical shape. We have taken her to PetSmart and had her treated for fleas and her initial set of shots. We have spent the last few months trying to get her acquainted with the other three pets we have, however, we have not been successful. She clearly was in single pet household. We have to rotate her in and out of closed rooms and keep her from the other pets to avoid issues. On her own she is a sweet cat and would make a family looking for a single pet a good addition. We have on a health plan with PetSmart so she is in excellent health. She is on par for weight. We would love to help someone add Poki  to their home. You can email me at or text me at 305-504-4107 to arrange a meeting at our home in Boca.

About Animal Aid, Inc.

About Our Shelter...

We are an all-volunteer, non-profit, no-kill animal rescue shelter and adoption center. Our shelter takes in emergency, abuse and neglect cases as well as dogs and cats from various (high-kill) animal control agencies in Palm Beach, Dade and Broward Counties in South Florida. We offer cats and dogs for adoption at our adoption center in Oakland Park, FL. We have a spay/neuter clinic in-house and a mobile unit stationed in Boca Raton, FL as well as a sanctuary in Naples, FL. We are a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization which relies solely on donations.

One of our goals is to address the overpopulation problem of stray and feral cats by offering the public low cost spay/neuter program.

Come Meet Our Pets...

You can meet our adoptable pets at our Adoption Center in Oakland Park, FL (call for directions and hours 754-223-5378)
Open Monday - Saturday 12-5. Visit to apply.
Many of our cats are shown 7 days a week in our cat room inside PetSmart on Sunrise Blvd. (just east of Flamingo) in Plantation, and at the Petco at 8111 West Broward Blvd. in Plantation.

Our Adoption Process...

Since our animals were homeless, we wish to ensure that their next home is permanent. To do this, we carefully screen applicants to establish that the needs of both the animal and the adoptive home will be met. A prospective adoptive owner must:

Complete an application for a dog or cat. Our board will review the application to determine if you and the chosen pet are a good match.

Pay an adoption donation. Being a non-profit rescue, we do not "sell" pets. All tax-deductible donations are placed in a fund to care for our animals.

Our adoption donation is:

Puppies/Dogs - $100-$300 includes heartworm, ehrlichia, lyme test, spay or neuter, rabies vaccine, 5 way series of puppy vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, Frontline (de-flea/tick), ear mite treatment, microchip (lifetime implant identification system), vet checkup, and initial grooming.

Kittens - $75.00 includes: Spay or neuter (when old enough), leukemia test, fecal exam, rabies vaccine (when old enough), entire series of kitten vaccines, flea control, both deworming treatments and one vet visit.

Cats - $60.00 includes: Spay or neuter, aids/leukemia test, fecal exam, rabies vaccine, 5-way combo vaccine, flea control and one vet visit.
