Hi there everyone! Lexie is my name and even though to you I may look like a chunky 11 year old Malamute, under all that fluff is the heart of a cougar! My brother and I were surrended to a shelter after we had lived with our family since we were puppies. We were so sad. Moonsong came to the rescue…no pun intended…and placed us in great foster homes. This is so much better than being left alone in a shelter kennel. I don’t like being alone. The closer I am to people the better. I spent my whole life with my brother so I think I would like a mellow male around but nothing too high strung. I do well with small dogs that are freindly and nice to me. I've been to Doggie Day Care and really like it! I can even live with cats peacefully. I do also like kids as long as they are respectful towards me and I'm gentle and nice to toddlers, as well. Did I tell you I love being around people of all sizes? I may be a cougar inside but my years of neglect have caused some joint issues but my foster parents say I am doing much better since I have lost some weight and am now taking some meds to help the joints. Can you believe I've lost 20 pounds! I could stand to lose a few more pounds but with my walks with my foster parents and my closely watched diet I am sure I will be a svelte gal in no time. Did I mention how much I like my foster parents? I’m pretty low maintenance…brush me, pet me, comb me, brush my teeth…it’s all good to me cuz I am a sucker for being petted and doted on.

I am spayed, current on all my shots and have been thoroughly vetted. I’m in pretty good health if I might say so myself considering what I have been through. If you are looking for a sweet Mal who adores people, don’t pass me over.  It would make my world complete to be your very own Velcro dog!

PS…did I tell you how much I really love people?!

About Moonsong Malamute Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! We are now a bonafide, federally recognized non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West. Please be aware that Moonsong Malamute Rescue (MMR) is not a shelter or humane society. We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics.

We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, are able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. These funds are also used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
