Shelby's Story...
Born into HAHS on 4/21/08, Shelby is a sweet kitten who can be a little shy and frightened at times. When she was just several weeks old, she had a bad upper respiratory infection that caused her eye lids to swell. The vet put her on some eye medication that was actually causing her more harm as she had a torn cornea and ulcer. With a lot of love and determination, her eye was saved. She will probably always have a blackish film over her left eye due to scar tissue, but she can see just fine and has no pain. Shelby gets along with other cats / kittens, small dogs and children.

As HAHS has several adoption locations, please contact Tina at justachillin@kc.rr.com to find out when and where you can meet courageous little SHELBY!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shelby, a Overland Park Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
