Wilko wasn’t doing so well in the shelter, but he’ s thriving in his foster home. He very sweet and loves being around people. He is good with other dogs both large and small , he likes cats and generally ignores them after a sniff or two , and he is great with children. We have been very impressed by how well he is able to read other dogs signals and respond appropriately and how gentle he is with kids . Judging from his exuberance, i t seems like ly that he did not receive much in the way of training about manners or boundaries in his previous home . Nonetheless, he is very food motivated and we’ve been able to teach him sit, stay, drop it, and some other basic commands. W ith a little formal training, his manners will probably improve fairly quickly.
Wilko is a very playful, high energy dog. Consequently, he would do best with an active family, where can receive plenty of play time and exercise. He loves to run, swim and play with other dogs at the dog park . H e is learning to exercise himself in the backyard, but is happiest when he receives at least one long walk every day. It should be noted that he is not a fan of going to the vet and needs lots of reassurance. That’s the only place I have seen him act unhappy or distressed. He is a fantastic dog and deserves a loving forever home.
