Huey is a 3 y/o male who was rescued from one of our area shelters. At 15+ inches tall, Huey is a very skinny 27 pounds. He is like one of those bean-pole teenage boys who can eat everything in sight without gaining an ounce! Huey has big brown eyes and a homely hound face that will melt your heart. I see plenty of treats in his future, so he won’t stay skinny for long!

Huey took his time adjusting to living in a house, but is housebroken with the use of a dog door now with only a rare incident of marking. Huey is not a chewer so has not ever gotten into anything that did not belong to the pack. He does get excited about treats and has been known to confuse a finger with an unclaimed treat! It is best to plan on wiggling your fingers in front of him is the universal dog sign language that all is gone!

Huey loves to play. He is a gentle boy when wrestling with smaller pack members, but will occasionally run one over in a chase! Huey will need a canine companion to spend his days with if everyone is off to work and school during the day. Most of his barking is in response to invading varmints in the yard and understands to command “That is enough!”

The one word that most closely describes this boy is cuddler. He loves being close to people. He is learning to sit for pets but would much prefer to climb into your lap for a good, close snuggle!
