Buddy is a red nose brindle bully pit about 2.5-3 years old. My friend begged me to take him in and foster him, sight unseen, describing him as a short-haired brindle dog who was very quiet and slept a lot. He was found wandering on a farm with a collar on and was going to be taken to a 'kill shelter' in Memphis, TN. Instead I agreed to take him after transport to Nashville and go from there. It turned out that Buddy had heartworms which I treated him for and his health and vigor changed dramatically. He went from a quiet, coughing, mostly sleeping dog to one with high energy and happiness. I have trained him with all basic commands although he does not heel and I walk him on a very long extending leash. He is perfectly house trained. He does not try to escape, but rather wants to be with his owner. He accepts treats and foods extremely gently. He is now accustomed to being in a house now that he has learned how doors work and how to jump up on the couch. He slowly learned how to hold a bone with his paws. He seemed to have been only outside before this and unexposed to normal dog things. He loves to chase after favorite toys thrown for him to retrieve. When he is bored from being in the house too long alone he does seek out plastic things to chew on like sandals or small plastic trash cans. Buddy loves to run and play with my daughter's much smaller dog in their yard. He is very friendly and wants to greet and play with every human and every dog he sees. He is young and muscular and very strong and sturdy. He really needs a yard now that he is healthy which I do not have. It is time for him to find a forever home.
