Coco is a 5-year-old, 45 pound Chow Chow. Coco is an athletic girl who loves sniffing and exploring everything around her, even though she is totally blind! She came to us with no vision, and her eyes were painful and at risk of rupturing, so the ophthalmologist recommended removing them. She is recovering beautifully from her surgery and is as curious as ever. We're hoping this resolves any pain she was in and gives her a more comfortable life. Coco may not have her vision, but it isn't slowing her down one bit! Coco's foster mama describes her as 'remarkably smart' and says she 'picks up commands like lightning.' She is already learning 'step up' and other verbal cues that will make her life easier. She's also food motivated so someone special is going to really enjoy training this intelligent girl. Coco has a loving, cuddly personality and even seems to enjoy the company of older kids who can understand her special needs. She loves walks and the great outdoors. Coco is good with other dogs. Once she gets oriented in her home, she is going to thrive. She is already house-trained after just a few short days with her foster. She's literally smiles while riding in the car, so she's a great sidekick to take with you! Coco came to us from the SPCA for Monterey County, where she was surrendered when her guardians moved somewhere that did not allow pets.
