Lily's Story...
If your hope is to adopt the happiest, tail wagging, attention loving chocolate lab... Lily is here waiting for you. She is a beautiful purebred beauty who wants to give you lovin' as much as she would like to have lovin' given back to her. She enjoys her wire crate and regularly relaxes there without the door closed. She uses the doggie door. She appears to be housebroken and has had no accidents while she has been with us. She is good with dogs- both small and large although she can be a little bit of a rough player unless corrected. We are told she loves to swim but have not taken her to a pool yet. This sweetheart companion could really use some extra walks and swims in the pool to take off a few extra pounds. She is pretty small and stocky and loves her food but a diet and some extra exercise would be essential in her new home - The vet suggests that she let go of 5 or 6 pounds. She does not bark (or at least we have never heard her bark) but she does have a tendency to want to jump up on people. She will need time and patience and probably obedience training to correct the jumping and to learn her commands and how to walk calmly on the leash. She likes to chase a tennis ball but rarely actually fetches and she will chew on the Nyla bone whenever given the opportunity. Lily is cute and a joy to be around.

If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application at www.DLRRphoenix.org. Someone will call to schedule a home visit so you can become an approved adopter. Also, visit our wonderful Facebook page at www.facebook/desertlab. Thanks!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lily, a Phoenix Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
