Sookie (Spayed)'s Story...
"Sookie" is a lovely one-year old female kitty who arrived at the HSOV on June 23, 2016 along with her seven 2-month old kittens after they were found in the Lower Salem Ohio area. Sadly, two of the kittens did not survive :( "Sookie" has a black-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with large copper-colored eyes, a pink nose, and extra-long white whiskers. She has a delightful personality and is a good conversationalist with plenty to talk about :) :) "Sookie" was given vaccinations and wormer on June 23, 2016. She weighed 6.4 lbs. on that date. "Sookie" has been a wonderful mother to her babies and has raised five happy youngsters in a small cage in our shelter. The kittens have recently been separated from their mother since they are ready to find homes of their very own, and they have been photographed and posted under their individual names (Alcide, Dawn,Lafayette, Sam, and Tara). "Sookie" and her kittens will be spayed/neutered in the near future and will be available for adoption to loving homes. UPDATE: "Sookie" was spayed on September 14, 2016 and was also given rabies vaccine. She was combo tested on December 27, 2016 and is negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sookie (Spayed), a Marietta Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
