Approximate DOB 09/01/2015

Size - About 45 lbs of love

History- Picked up running at large. Her skin was inflamed, red and she had a lot of hairloss.. Even her eyes were swollen!! She was a mess but sooo loving the shelter employees fell in love and wanted to just hurry and get her out into rescue. So even though she was a stray they posted her photos in hopes that a rescue would take her. A trainer we work with (Custom K9 Performance) said they could foster her if we needed a place for her. She went in and evaluated her and took her home. She switched her to grain free food and gave her a bath and she started getting regular rub downs with coconut oil -- which she absolutely loved I heard.. Then we got her into the vet as she had an ear infection and needed it treated and soon after that cleared up she went in for the rest of her medical including her heartworm test.. She is now doing great-- completely healed up and has grown back all her hair.. She will need to stay on a grain free food but she is an awesome baby...

Temperament- Very sweet, playful, loving, and happy.  This is one very cute little bowling ball..

Energy Level- Mid level energy- loves to play with her toys but just for short periods of time and then she is ready to go back into her crate or hang out on your lap for loving..

Dogs/Cats- Seems to be ok with other dogs.. She hasn't spent a lot of time with them but she has done very good when they have been together.. She doesn't seem to care for the cats though however it could be because she only sees them through her crate so it could be more of a barrier issue and not necessarily the cats..

Housetrained- House and crate trained. She has had a few accidents so when loose should be watched but overall she is doing great..

This sweet girl would make a wonderful addition to any family wanting a sweet, loving little girl, with a really rough past, to join their family. She is not real needy but does enjoy when she can be a lap dog and get lots of belly and ear rubs.. She is however happy to hang out in her crate or with her loved ones.. She does enjoy having toys in her crate and will play with her bowl if she doesn't have toys with her.. LOL  -- She is absolutely adorable and very sweet.

Adoption fee $100 includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies vacc, collar and tags, training information, and all the support you need.

About Almost Home NM

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail me.

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.
