Shirley's Story...
Shirley is a 3 year old female Miniature Pinscher and possibly Chihuahua. She came from a breeder in Colorado Springs and her family had to relinquish her this week due to some very difficult circumstances. Shirley doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's a bit shy at first, but warms up quickly. She loves to sit on your lap, get pats, and cuddle. Her previous owner said that she does very well with kids, other dogs, and cats! We would like to adopt her to a loving home with her best kitty friend, Max, who is a wonderfully sweet gentle boy. The two love to snuggle together and keep each other company.

Once she has been spayed and had a full work-up from the vet she will be ready for foster or adoption. If you are willing to foster Shirley (and Max) or are interested in adoption, please call PAWS at (970) 209-3656.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shirley, a Crested Butte Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua for sale in Crested Butte, or seeking a Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Crested Butte.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Crested Butte already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Crested Butte breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua breeders who help with Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Crested Butte paves the way for another one to be saved.
