Anyone wanting to adopt a German Shepherd MUST have knowledge about their needs. These are very intelligent dogs that need lots of exercise, both physically and mentally.

Please discuss and consider if you are now, and will be in the foreseable future, in a financial position to provide to the dogs needs, unexpected vet bills, and common health issues specific to the breed.

PINKIE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 28 April 2016 and at the time of rescue weighed approximately 4 pounds.

PINKIE was saved with her sister CANDY from a high kill shelter in Texas the day they was due to be killed. They were brought up to the safety of the rescue in Sebec, where they live with 20 other rescue dogs waiting for their perfect family to find them and give them the home and life that they deserve.

Both girls were terrified of everything, including the other dogs and humans when they arrived here and they would cower on a dog bed huddled up together. Over the first few days they started to gain confidence around the other dogs and are now happy running and playing amongst them all playing with the smaller dogs and running in between the legs of the bigger dogs.

PINKIE is still very fearful of humans although she is now getting curious and wants to come up to check me out. If I put my hand out and look away, she will come up and timidly sniff my hand. She is more confident than her sister, but still very close to her.

PINKIE uses the puppy pee pads to do her business although she does come outside for our pack walks and will walk/run around the fence line.

PINKIE will need a family that understands she will need time to get over her fears and be able to have the patience and understanding to help her over come them. This will take time and a special family, but just seeing how she has progressed within herself and with the other dogs, it will truly be a wonderful thing and well worth that extra love and care. Having another dog will most definitely help her adjust.

There is nothing we would like more than to adopt PINKIE with her sister CANDY and we will offer a $50 deduction off both dogs adoption fee's if a family is able to adopt both girls to keep them together.
We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!

We do not have cats at the rescue so we are unable to say how any of our dogs would react around cats.

PINKIE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious stunning girl a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

PINKIE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
