Sammy's Story...
Sammy says "birds can talk". He says quite a few things Hello, Sammy, Alright Hurry it up or just hurry it up. (Especially when he's waiting on breakfast). He also says...what, this is a recording, good morning, want to go for a ride, bird shit and no. He whistles and makes computer peeps. He likes his foot toys and shredding paper items but doesn't know what to do with his hanging toys yet. He's learning to eat a good diet and is down to 2 peanuts and about 10 sunflower seeds a day now. After a couple showers his feathers have turned out beautiful. He is not hand tame but loves to be out of his cage and will just sit with you and talk and make his little grey noises. He's about 30 yrs old and would make a great companion.

Approx Hatch Date: 1985
Adoption Fee: $600

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a St. Louis African Grey was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a African Grey for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a African Grey from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even African Grey breeders who help with African Grey rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
