Patch's Story...
Patch is a 6.5 year old black and white Border Collie. He is a medium sized dog who weighs 44 pounds. He is great with kids and other dogs! Patch is a sweet, loyal and clever fellow who will be a great companion to the lucky person who gives him a home!
Patch and his brother Mack lost their home in Georgia when their elderly owner became ill and was forced to sell his farm and move into assisted living.
Mack was lucky and found a home! Unfortunately, upon arrival in CT the veterinarian determined that Patch needed hip surgery. Money was raised for Patch's surgery and the first surgery was successfully completed in September. His second hip surgery is scheduled for the end of October after which, Patch will be able to run pain free!
Patch is currently fostered in Old Saybrook, CT with a canine foster sibling. His foster Mom says he walks well on a leash and rides calmly in the car. Patch sleeps in his own bed in his foster Mom's bedroom.
Patch enjoys spending time outdoors in a fenced in yard where he loves to play with water from the hose. He would do best in a cat-free home as he finds cats too interesting!
Patch is house-trained, neutered, micro-chipped, current on shots and on flea and heart worm preventative medications.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Patch, a West Hartford Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in West Hartford, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in West Hartford.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in West Hartford already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a West Hartford breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in West Hartford paves the way for another one to be saved.
