We are looking for a special home and someone who has the ability to care for a little senior diabetic Pom.

Lola Bear is a 5 year old female pomeranian who lived with an elderly lady all of her life.

Her owner constantly fed table scraps which resulted in her developing diabetes. This is managed by giving insulin shots.

Insulin is relatively inexpensive now-a-days. For instance, Wal-mart carries her brand for about $35 a month with the needles.  With insulin shots twice a day she will live a long and happy life.

Lola has a great disposition and gets along with people and other dogs. Her current foster has used her many times to assist with training other dogs with 'dog issues' because of her mellow attitude.

It's been a rough road for this sweet girl and we look
forward to finding her a forever home.

Lola is crate trained and knows her basic obedience.  It took quite some time to get her comfortable with getting insulin, but now she is easy.  The next step is to get her comfortable with at home BG testing which means less vet visits!  She does need her food and insulin spaced out 12 hours.  Other then that she is so low maintenance and fun to be with.  Her foster family loves her so much, but does not live a life style to be able to provide her with the structure she needs long term.  She is perfectly happy spending time in her crate, on the floor next to you, or snuggled beside you.  She has recently learned (through training) to stay away from people food as well as when families eat dinner and is becoming more and more respectful of that every day.  She has had such a difficult start to life that we look forward to seeing her continue to blossom.  Some of her habits are the CUTEST you have ever seen, including going up to dogs and people and sitting up on her back legs rather then
laying over, hoping for a belly scratch.

If you think you could provide the structure in love this little girl needs please contact us!

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is quite simple. We request an application, home visit and a signed contract upon completion of the adoption. We do allow a week to have the dog live with you in your home before the adotion is finalized.

Frequently asked questions:

1) DO YOU SHIP OUT OF STATE/COUNTRY?

Yes we can send ADOPTED Poms (Not Fosters) out of state but it is highly subject to local rescues doing a home inspection and your veterinary reference. Transport out of state has to be arranged by the adopter. Typically adopters fly in and carry them on the plane home. You are looking at $100-500 adoption fees, $40 a crate, $50 health cert and about $300 for your dogs flight. You can call Delta or American to get prices. Transport costs are case by case especially depending on your timing of booking the flight for your dog.

We do not adopt out of the country at this time. Unfortunately with animal rights not being what they are in this country, and the inability to preform our inspections and reference checks we cannot make exceptions to this regulation.

2) HOW DO I GET AN ADOPTION/FOSTER APPLICATION?

There are a few ways you can obtain a Form. Once you do, you can Copy n Paste the form on to a new email and then email us or print it out and snail mail or fax it to us. Here's where you can find the Form:

FACEBOOK - At our FILES Link under our Profile picture or click here http://www.facebook.com/SoCalPomRescue?sk=app_72880082540

SCPR WEBSITE - On our Adoptions page or Fostering page http://www.southerncaliforniapomeranianrescue.org/Available_For_Adoption.html

3) HOW MUCH ARE YOUR DOGS?

Adoption donations are between $100 and $500 depending on age. This is to help with the cost of transporting them, providing them with medical care and sometimes lengthy kennel costs amongst other things. These Pomeranian's have been rescued from kill shelters and surrender situations. ALL of our Pommies are pre-screened for behavioral, temperament, and health conditions prior to placement in a forever home through our Vet's. This includes being spayed/neutered and microchipped.

4) WHERE CAN I SEE PICTURES OF DOGS FOR ADOPTION OR IN NEED OF FOSTERING?

We are SO glad you asked. You can see dogs available under our Photos Tab on Facebook, and on our website:

5) ARE YOU A NON-PROFIT?

Yes in 2009 we were recognized by the State of California as a Not-For-Profit entity.

6) I NEED TO FIND A HOME FOR MY POMERANIAN?

We will be able to take your Pommie and find a new loving home for him or her. Just fill out our Surrender Form found on our website (Contact Us page) or here in our Notes Tab section. Copy n Paste it on to a new email or snail mail us.

7) DO YOU HAVE "TEA CUP" POMERANIAN'S?

Per the American Pomeranian Club (APC)"... the average size of the Pomeranian is from 3 to 7 pounds, with the ideal weight for the show specimen being 4 to 6 pounds." So no, we do not as Tea Cup Pomeranian's do not exist. But certain breeders on-line and in the papers will tell you they do in order to sell you 3-4 lb Pommie claiming it to be a "Tea Cup". The APC does not recognize the "Tea Cup" class and any reputable breeder (With a Guarantee) will not have a "Tea Cup" in their litters. We do not have Tea Cups, but on occasion we do get small Pommies as little as 3lbs. Keep checking back or contact us!
