We are looking for a special home and someone who has the ability to care for a little senior diabetic Pom.

Lola Bear is a 5 year old female pomeranian who lived with an elderly lady all of her life.
Her owner constantly fed table scraps which resulted in her developing diabetes. This is managed by giving insulin shots.
Insulin is relatively inexpensive now-a-days. For instance, Wal-mart carries her brand for about $35 a month with the needles.  With insulin shots twice a day she will live a long and happy life.
Lola has a great disposition and gets along with people and other dogs. Her current foster has used her many times to assist with training other dogs with 'dog issues' because of her mellow attitude.
It's been a rough road for this sweet girl and we look
forward to finding her a forever home.
Lola is crate trained and knows her basic obedience.  It took quite some time to get her comfortable with getting insulin, but now she is easy.  The next step is to get her comfortable with at home BG testing which means less vet visits!  She does need her food and insulin spaced out 12 hours.  Other then that she is so low maintenance and fun to be with.  Her foster family loves her so much, but does not live a life style to be able to provide her with the structure she needs long term.  She is perfectly happy spending time in her crate, on the floor next to you, or snuggled beside you.  She has recently learned (through training) to stay away from people food as well as when families eat dinner and is becoming more and more respectful of that every day.  She has had such a difficult start to life that we look forward to seeing her continue to blossom.  Some of her habits are the CUTEST you have ever seen, including going up to dogs and people and sitting up on her back legs rather then
laying over, hoping for a belly scratch.
If you think you could provide the structure in love this little girl needs please contact us!

About Southern California Pomeranian Rescue - Irvine

About Our Rescue Group...

Southern California Pomeranian Rescue
The Southern California Pomeranian Rescue, also known as SCPR and So Cal Pom Rescue, is a group of compassionate volunteers dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned pomeranias. The Southern California Pomeranian Rescue does not have a shelter and relies on a small group of volunteers to foster the pomeranians until they can find a FURever home for them. Without these dedicated volunteers many of the pomeranians they rescued from kill shelters and the streets would be killed. The mission of the Southern California Pomeranian Rescue is to save as many Pomeranians as they can from abandonment and euthanasia.
Every rescued pomeranian has a story. Some are found on the streets cold, starving and injured, others are relinquished by their owners because they no longer have the means to care for them, and many are saved from euthanasia from kill shelters. Fortunately, because of the Southern California Pomeranian Rescue these dogs won’t be among the thousands that are abandon, abused and euthanized every day.

Southern California Pomeranian Rescue is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. As a non-profit, they rely on the generosity of dog lovers to assist them in continuing their mission of saving dogs in need. Every dollar raised provides care, medical services and an opportunity for an animal to have a second chance at a new and wonderful life.

The Southern California Pomeranian Rescue is always in need of…

Dog Food and Supplies – Crates, leashes, harnesses, collars, toys, blankets, food and dog bowls.

Veterinarian Services – Free or low cost services. Monetary Donations – $10 pays for a vaccination; $50 pays to spay/neuter a puppy, $200 covers all expenses for the average rescue.

Volunteers- Needed in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.

The one thing the Southern California Pomerania Rescue needs the most are loving, compassionate people to give these beautiful animals a FURever home. To adopt a pomeranian, make a donation or volunteer, please visit the Southern California Pomerania Rescue web site at

All of the pomeranians that we take in are screened for behavioral issues and health problems prior to permanent placement with their new mommies and daddies. Behavioral screening means that we check to see if they get along with kids, the elderly, cats, dogs, and other animals. It also entails checking to see if they nip, are scared of fast movement, are jumpy, don't like to be touched in certain ways, chew excessively, etc. Medical screening means that we have them de-wormed, current on vaccines, free of parasites and communicable disease, are treated for pre-existing conditions, and declared healthy within manageable limits.

Come Meet Our Pets...

They are viewable by appointment only. They are placed with foster parents while in our care and due to this we must schedule a time to pick them up for viewing.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an application followed by a home inspection and contract. Then an adoption fee is placed and the dog/puppy can go home. We require spay/neuter, current vaccines, and a microchip before the dog can be released.
