It is hands-down impossible to love a cat more than we love Wilbur - he is probably the friendliest, gentlest, most loving cat there is. Wilbur was brought in to an emergency clinic with wounds to the back of his neck and after initial treatment, transferred to the public shelter, where he received great medical care after a diagnosis of an allergic reaction (we think it's likely from a cheap topical flea treatment). The wounds have all healed up and now it's just a matter of his fur growing back in. This guy wants nothing more than to be petted galore, play with toys, lean up against you and climb on your lap for attention. (He's also really good at walking across your computer keyboard as you type if you're not paying attention to him...) Wilbur is estimated to be 1 year of age and is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccines. While he hasn't interacted with our other cats just yet, he's very curious about them and seems to want to be a part of their action. He's easy as can be around people and would likely be fantastic with cat-friendly kids, too. He's a very mellow fellow who is happy to relax around the house with you, play when you have some time, and snuggle as often as you'll let him. This guy is the gem of all gems! About Contra Costa Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Contra Costa Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates such programs as Adoptions, Kitty Corner, Spay/Neuter Assistance, and AniMeals. We are not affiliated with any other rescue organization, humane society or spca.

Our mission is to empower our community to improve the quality of life for animals and decrease euthanasia rates. Through our programs and services, we connect with individuals and private and public organizations to adopt pets, reduce the number of unwanted animals, and educate the public to foster compassion, responsibility and respect towards animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our business office and Kitty Corner are located at 171 Mayhew Way, Suite 101 in Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Kitty Corner houses adult, senior, and special-needs cats (sometimes teenage kittens). Kitty Corner is open for adoptions on Saturday, Sunday & Monday from 12-3pm or during the week (preferably by appointment to make sure someone's available to show you the cats).

All of our dogs, puppies and kittens are located off-site in foster homes and can be met by appointment once adoption applications have been received and approved.

Our Adoption Process...

CCHS has animals available for adoption through a number of different avenues. Many of our kittens and all dogs are cared for in loving foster homes until they are adopted. Teenage, adult, senior and special-needs cats reside at Kitty Corner, an on-site, private cat shelter where cats are allowed to free-roam at all times, lounge in sunny windows and on comfy cat towers, and play to their heart's galore. Similarly, we also have animals available for adoption through our Re-Homing Assistance Program, where we help to advertise animals that caregivers are no longer able to keep.

If you are interested in meeting any of the animals listed on our website, please complete an adoption application unless otherwise noted!

Adoption fees are:
Kittens under 6mo: $130 ($200 for two)
Cats over 6mo: $90 ($150 for two)
