Houdini's Story...
Houdini is 28lb terrier mix and a great little man in a short pup-package.
At first he may be wary, but a treat and a patient introduction will open this guy up to you.
His character is of a Lover(ie. snuggle-city), always right by your side, waiting for you to give him a hug. If you sit, he’ll fit.
Taking treats gently, sitting when asked to, and giving kisses is what Houdini does best.
Inside, he’s a gentleman, no accidents at all. His queue to me that he has to go outside, is by sitting at the door or gently pawing at the door. He knows No, Sit, Lay-down, and Stay (although it’s hard when waiting for his food).
At his foster home, he’s learned not to go on the furniture although we can tell he’s used to sleeping up on the couch or in a pile of throw pillows.
At night, he’ll sleep in his crate, but please put it where he can see you(or better yet, let him sleep next to you). He doesn’t like to be away from your view for too long.
He’d really do best with someone/s that worked from home or if he could accompany you to your office/work area. While I work from home, he sits at my feet under my desk and sleeps.

When he’s on a walk, Houdini loves to sniff and go exploring. He has yet to meet a shrub or tree he doesn’t like. However, I do let people know to not pet Houdini on our walks quite yet. He’s not so confident in meeting people right off the bat, preferring to have a proper introduction instead. (I put a yellow tie on the leash so people know to be cautious when coming up to him).
Although he pulls on his walk, we’re working with him on it. There’s just so much that he wants to do on his short legs!

He loves pets and hugs from his 11 year old, two-legged foster sibling (after having a proper introduction with me to moderate). A calm environment encourages him to settle down next to her while she does her homework or watches her toons. He’s the first to greet her now when she comes downstairs in the morning. Don’t get me wrong though, even though hes calm inside, Houdini loves to ZOOM around the house…he hunkers down, smiling his wide grin, and races around the living room. It’s hilarious to see!

Mealtime is always greatly appreciated! Houdini can’t stop wiggling, even when he sits to wait for the signal to approach his food bowl.
He eats quickly and then it’s off to play or watch me wash his bowl at the kitchen sink.
I can remove his food bowl without any negative reaction as well as take away his favorite antler (to toss down the hallway, which he loves to go get and bring back to his crate to nosh on).

Houdini is house trained, heart-worm negative, neutered, and UTD on vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Houdini, a Huntley Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Huntley, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Huntley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Huntley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Huntley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Huntley paves the way for another one to be saved.
