From the Foster Family:
Dogs truly are amazing and resilient animals; Toby is proof of this. Toby was an unclaimed stray found wandering along a highway. Though not much is known about his history, the fact that he had been neglected for years was apparent. He was badly malnourished, his nails were overgrown and split, and his arthritis was very inflamed. Despite this neglect Toby wants only your love (and to give you kisses). When he arrived he had significant difficulty standing up and going up and down stairs. With proper nutrition, treatment for arthritis, and gentle exercise he has thrived. He has such a fun personality. Toby does a little spin when it is meal or snack time. As mentioned above he loves giving kisses. His favorite thing to do is lean into your legs and squeeze in between and behind your legs while you sit. Though he would do best in a home with no children or older gentle children he is currently staying with a 5 and 1 year old. He enjoys playing with them, especially tug of war. But when he retires to his dog bed or crate he wants to rest and can be grumpy if the child tries to touch him to continue playing. He is low energy but does have playful spurts. He enjoys short walks. His foster family has not heard him bark yet. He does show some possessiveness over his food, offering additional evidence of a history of neglect and malnourishment. Toby loves going for car  rides as long as someone will help him in the car. He does not climb on furniture even though the resident dog has pet steps that would allow him to get up. He's content to lay at your feet and loves carrying around small items left on the floor as if it's a treasure. Toby is such a fun and love able dog and deserves lots of love for his remaining years to make up for the years of neglect. Will his new best friend be you?

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Process:

1. Search adoptable animals and fill out the application when you find one you want to meet.

2. Adoption coordinator will review application and check vet/personal references.

3. Foster schedules a “meet and greet.” This could take place at an adoption event, public place or foster's home.

4. If foster and adopter agree it’s a good fit, then an adoption home visit will be scheduled.

5. After home visit is approved, payment and adoption contract will be completed.

6. Once payment, adoption contract and age appropriate vetting are complete, the new owners can pick up their pet!

All dogs/cats are fully vetted through our partner clinics and will not be adopted out prior to being spayed/neutered*, microchipped**, vaccinated & tested, as age appropriate up to the day the adoption contract is signed and payment is made. All animals are giving wormer and heartworm preventative (species and age specific) while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable.

Adoption Fees are based on the animal's species, age, health and length in rescue. Their fee will be listed in their descriptions.

*Puppies must be at least 8 weeks old to be spayed/neutered before adoption. Kittens must be at least 8 weeks old and at least 2 pounds to be spayed/neutered before adoption.
**We do not microchip cats since we require them to be indoors.
