Roses are red, Weims are blue?! Well, these three certainly are! WRS has seen a huge surge in blue weims in our care this year; we have no idea why. We have a video on our Facebook page where you can see Sam, Bennie, and Silky all having a romp and enjoying playing with each other. Both Bennie and Silky are slowly losing weight; they have a long way to go, but they are making steady progress. Sam is the petite female in the trio. All three of these great dogs are available for fostering or adoption. If interested in any of these pups, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

It's a start! Sweet Bennie lost 3lbs in his first week with WRS. He has about 37lbs go, but he's moving in the right direction. Bennie is two years old, very sweet, and is very affectionate with people. Bennie needs a structured, active home where his people can continue his weight loss program so that he can live a long, healthy, happy life. Bennie also needs a home that will commit to working on basic obedience training. Due to Bennie's size and lack of training, he needs to go to a home with older children (10+) or adults only. If interested in fostering or adopting this handsome blue boy, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Please welcome Big Bennie to WRS! Bennie is a two year old blue boy who lost his home for reasons beyond his control. Bennie is morbidly obese at 120lbs; he needs to lose about 40lbs and we have already developed a diet plan for him. Bennie is very, very sweet but has had minimal training. He does appear to be a quick learner and very willing to please. We're thrilled to report that Bennie did test negative for heartworms and is already neutered. Once Bennie has lost some weight, we will be looking for a foster or forever home for this big boy. If interested, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
