“She is very gentle. Well mannered. Did everything we asked her to. She was ok with my dogs, however I did have to introduce them very slowly and she does not like hyperactivity. She played tug of war and chased toys some if I got her started but mostly enjoyed cuddling on the couch. Even her playing isn't rambunctious. She did well with my 6 month old. She is afraid of things being picked up above her head especially abruptly. She is slow to warm up but when she does she is a sweet gentle loving soul.” –Ashley M.Please visit our website, www.colonialcapital.org to fill out an application today!

About Colonial Capital Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The mission of Colonial Capital Humane Society is to rescue and relieve the suffering of abused, abandoned, and stray animals; provide for their care until forever homes can be found; and create greater public awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering and humane treatment of animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our shelter is located at 1860 Old Airport Road in New Bern, NC. Since we are an all-volunteer organization, appointments are required to visit our available pets.

We have adopt-a-thons several times a year at PetSense (located beside Harris Teeter) in New Bern.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption application is located on our website. Home visits will be made and vet references must be provided. There is an adoption fee on all animals that helps to offset the cost of veterinary care and spay/neuter of the animal. The basic adoption fee is $150 for cats and $175 for dogs. This fee may vary depending on the pet. Please contact adoptions@colonialcapital.org for more information.
