My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you feeling lucky? My name is Blackjack and you would indeed be lucky to make me your own. I weigh in at 14 pounds and am guesstimated to be between 3-5 years old. Low to the ground, I can retrieve all those items you lose under the bed or couch. A tiny fellow, I would be perfect for apartment living. I am brand new to my foster home so my foster family still has a lot to learn about me. I have been a very sweet house guest so far. I greet people by standing up on my hind legs. I have let my foster mom and dad pet me and have met my big, goofy foster dog brother. I want to play with him but I have to wait until I am all recovered from my neutering. A home without small children would be best for me because of my size. I need humans who will be careful not to step, sit on or bury me in a pile of toys.
I am up to date on vaccines, negative for bad things like Heartworm, Lyme Disease and parasites, and housetrained. I don't like to be left alone, especially if I know you are around. I want to be with you. I sometimes whine or bark if I can't get to you. I am crate trained and aside from an initial burst of protest barking, I quiet right down and stay in my crate for 6-7 hours without a problem.
I would love to share someone's warm bed but am also happy to sleep in my own bed, particularly if you are wiggly. Going for walks is great and rolling in the grass even greater. I don't pull on the leash but prance beside you very nicely.
Check back for updates as I show my foster family what I am made of. Rumor has it that I have a very adorable play bow. Wait till they see that. They will have a tough time parting with me as I quickly steal hearts. Apply fast because I am not going to be available for long. No gamble here, I am a sure thing. Adopt me and you can only win.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label
