My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dee Dee has beautiful grayish blue coat and black nose and seems to not shed much at all!!! She is very independent and does not need a lot of attention. She is a young adult, around 3 years old.

Dee Dee is the Featured Cat for our Holiday newsletter because we would like her adopted directly out of foster care. We love our pet supply store partners and couldn’t do the work we do without them. In particular, we are so grateful for the committed space they provide to us.

Unfortunately, some cats are not at their best in this atmosphere, but end up thriving once in a home. Dee Dee is one cat that does not do well in a caged environment. We want her to get the exposure of these adoption centers but they stress her out too much. So, by highlighting her here, we are hoping that she gets the exposure that she needs in order to find her forever home.

Dee Dee’s life has been difficult – she’s never had a stable home. Dee Dee came to us after she was kicked out of her home. Upon her arrival, we discovered that she was pregnant. She spent a few months in a loving foster home where she gave birth to a litter of 5 kittens. When her kittens were weaned and old enough for adoption, Dee Dee went to Petco for adoption where she did not do well in a small cat condo. She is now in another loving foster home. Although she is given all of the food and attention she would like, what we think Dee Dee really needs is a stable home with more space to roam, and a parent or two that she can get to know on her own terms.

Dee Dee does seek attention and pets, but doesn’t want too much petting. She is what some refer to as easily over-stimulated. This means that, unlike some cats that like constant attention and carrying around, Dee Dee may scratch or hiss when petted too much. This makes her a good candidate for an experienced adopter that is willing to give her a rich environment with cat trees, interesting activity toys, and room to roam. Dee Dee is in search of a home with no children and no other pets, where she can spread her proverbial wings and be queen of the home.
