My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cowboy is a sweet and sensitive male beagle, about 1 year old. He is housetrained and surprisingly quiet for a beagle - though we think he might find his voice once he finally has a forever home that can give him some confidence and security, and the freedom to be a dog with the guidance of a committed human partner. He is good with most other dogs, but is a bit intense with cats, and definitely needs no poultry (except for dinner now and then). Rabbits are also a big no-no for Cowboy's new home! (Hey, he IS a beagle).

Like most beagles, his nose is his guide, and he will follow it into trouble if left on his own. Cowboy needs a securely fenced yard for off-leash times, and would love to learn to be good on leash for adventures out and about with his new people. So far, he doesn't really understand the leash thing that well, but he's making progress, and is eager to learn!

Cowboy isn't enjoying shelter life very much - he is sad when his play times are over, and isn't eating very well. He mostly just wants to hang out in the office with his shelter friends, waiting for his new person to come and invite him home. He hasn't really learned any commands, and is only beginning to understand the concept of playing with a human - we can see he wants to chase the ball, but he hasn't quite figured out why, or what to do when he catches it. He is poised to blossom with the right family, and will be a devoted friend. He is good with all sorts of people, including children. He may have separation anxiety issues as a result of his insecure and inconsistent first year, and will do best in a home where he can have a person with him much of the time. All he really wants is to be a great companion, and to have a great companion in you!

Cowboy comes with a 30-day money-back trial adoption period.

Spay/neuter, worming, microchip and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption fee (suggested minimum $95; more gratefully accepted!)

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your payment to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
