JUDGE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Judge Breed: Labrador mix
Approximate Age: 6-7 yrs. SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 50-55 lbs.
Has Lived With: Other dogs and kids
Currently Living at: DC foster
Special Adoption Considerations: Judge would do best in a home without young children or small dogs. Judge has also suffered a leg injury sometime in his past and is doing well with medications and rehab - his new family should be prepared to continue that.
Meet handsome Judge! This sweet guy is a 6-7 year old Labrador mix, weighing in at approximately 55-60 lbs. Judge found himself at a shelter through no fault of his own and is now looking to be your new best friend! Judge can't wait to start a new, better life with someone who loves him. He is a happy, gentle, friendly boy ready for a new forever home!
Judge is an older dog, but he still has that typical comedic lab behavior and energy, so his new adopters will need to provide him with plenty of exercise and playtime to keep him happy and healthy! Fun fact: Judge will lie on his back for everyone! He would love to go on long walks, hikes, and take trips to the dog park and dog beach so he can socialize with his canine friends. And of course, upon returning home, he'd love to shower his new forever family with tons of kisses and cuddles!
Judge's new person or family will need to make sure he gets lots of socialization to keep up the good social skills he has already! And, like all dogs we adopt out, he'll need to go to obedience classes to build a strong bond with his people, and help him become a well behaved companion and family member. Judge seems to like all the people he meets, and can't wait to wiggle his way into your heart and home!
Judge does well with other dogs, but he tends to be selective about which dogs he wants as friends. We haven't had the opportunity to test him with cats yet. If you have them, please let us know and we'll do our best to find out! Judge would make a great addition to an existing pack — or he'd love to soak up all the attention as an only dog!
FOSTER UPDATE!! Judge is very sweet and loving, and will follow you around the house. He is pretty low energy and does well in the crate during the day. A few short walks or time in the yard to explore and do his business is all he needs. His desire for affection can become pushy, his desire for food can become greedy, but he tries very hard to be on his best behavior. Now he will wait for his food. He doesn't have any accidents in the house. He loves to curl up next to you to watch TV, or stretch out beside you for a nap. He will do best with structure and leadership, and an expectation of good behavior.
Like most shelter dogs, Judge may need a refresher on house-training. He is likely crate trained.
The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sam at SamanthaM@luckydoganimalrescue.org!
