Watch his video and meet Chewy! Chewy is a smart boy who learns fast and loves to play fetch. Once he bonds with his new person, he will be a loyal and loving dog. He has gotten off to a bit of a rough, slow start and he will need consistency and structure daily to make him the best boy he can be. In the beginning, he will need to be in a fully fenced yard to exercise so he can adjust to his new environment. Once he is bonded with his new person he can begin to go for short walks in quiet places. Chewy needs an experienced dog person to help him gain his full confidence. Chewy will do best in an adult-only home as the activities of a family would be too much for him. He will also need to be the only pet in the home. If you are interested in adopting Chewy, you'll receive a training consult so you can learn more about how to set him up for success!

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip ID, collar and OHS I.D. tag, initial vaccines, courtesy veterinarian exam, 30 days free PetPlan health insurance for Oregon Residents and plenty of post adoption support from his trainer.

About Oregon Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

•Visitors can meet one-on-one with pets in our "Get Acquainted Rooms." Bring the whole family--even your dog.
•To meet one of the animals in foster care, contact the Foster Care Department by calling (503) 416-5025 or email to set up an appointment. If provided in the animal's description, you may directly e-mail the foster care volunteer.
•If your pet meet is a success, you'll need to complete an adoption application (please do not fax or email the application, although you can download it and fill it out before you visit).
•You will be interviewed by an OHS adoption assistant to be sure you are familiar with any special needs the animal might have.
•We have a variable adoption fee policy based on an animal's age, breed, temperament, behavioral issues, and physical condition. Learn more here. If you are over 60 years old, be sure to ask about the adoption discount offered through the Pets for the Elderly Program.

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt a pet at OHS, you'll need to fill out an adoption application and complete an interview with an adoption specialist. But what's more important is everything that comes before the application and the interview, namely, finding the best match possible.
