Juma is simply a wonderful soul - everyone who meets him immediately falls in love with him when they look into his star-dusty brown and blue eyes! Juma is exceptional with all the people he meets, young and old. He is a really a big mush - within seconds he will lie down in your lap to get a belly rub.  He is also super smart and wants to please his people (just LOVES his people) so he learns things quickly. Juma is crate-trained and house-trained (however, he still goes out of nervousness from time to time), and he is already proficient at the commands: sit, stay, come, go, lie-down, & watch-me!

Juma makes a wonderful walking or jogging partner as he is good at loose leash walking and has a ton of energy (future Olympic high-jumper??)...though he does like to make semi-frequent stops to let everyone in the neighborhood know he's stopped by. While Juma has the energy to chase the ball around the yard for an afternoon or go on a long hike, he is also happy to just hang out and lie by your feet or (preferably) cuddle. And, although Juma is very food motivated, he will sit and wait patiently for his food even while it's being prepared.

Because of Juma's love for play and the fact that very loud noises sometimes frighten him Juma would prefer a home with a well fenced yard (all the better for a good game of fetch!). And, although Juma is great meeting kids when out on a walk, he would do best in a home with older children or no children. It's not that he doesn't absolutely love kids, it's just that he can get a bit enthusiastic (goofy!) about his playtime. Juma would also shine in a home without other dogs, at least for the time being. Juma had a rough start in life - he was left tied up so long that his collar embedded in his neck. Thankfully that's all healed now, but he is still learning his dog-to-dog social skills. He is great with most brief meetings, but will sometimes be reminded of bad experiences and react defensively or play too rough too quickly for others. Juma would really blossom in a home that can be patient with him as he learns these skills. The rewards will certainly be plentiful as Juma really does love on his people.

Juma will not be placed in a home with cats.

Juma is being fostered in Troy, NY. If interested, please contact Laura.Rabinow@gmail.com

About Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.

Come Meet Our Pets...
