Sweet Hanako lived her whole 14 years with her owner, a senior man who died suddenly a few months ago. Initially Hanako and one of the other dogs from the home were put into boarding because the siblings of her owner loved the dogs, but because of housing restrictions, could not take them. The siblings worked hard to get them out of boarding (it was a wonderful place, but the dogs were confused and did not know why they had to leave their other life) and into Foster homes. Hanako ended up in a Foster home on a farm, with a 14 year old boy and his parents, a big yard and a funny little Jack Russell terrier. Hanako and the terrier do not interact much, but Hanako has bonded with her Foster mother and the whole family. Hanako is waiting patiently for her forever home where she can give her heart and soul to someone or a whole family. She would be perfect for an apartment or the suburbs, or the city! She is perfectly housebroken, polite, NEVER barks or even makes a peep. She just needs someone to love her, a warm bed, some attention and some exercise. Hanako is a “young” 14. She has a twinkle in her eye and a spring to her step. She is a Shibu Inu (a Japanese breed) mix and thus a very unique looking dog, who always gets complimented when she is walking in public – and everyone wonders what breed she could be, with her sandy palomino coat, her thin white blaze and her jaunty pricked up ears. She can be initially shy, but always in a sweet, passive way, but once she knows someone she is loyal and loving. She doesn’t ask for much – show her where her dog bed is on the first day, offer her loving kindness, SCRATCH HER NECK (her favorite thing – she will do anything for this!), feed her some good wholesome food, suitable for a senior, and most importantly, promise her a home for the rest of her life so she never has to worry about boarding kennels, Foster homes (not that she doesn’t love it at her Foster home) or being displaced again in her life. Hanako is a funny, loyal, quiet, loving companion, who is just waiting to keep someone company and brighten their life, without asking for much in return!
