Betsy & Sammy's Story...
"Betsy & Sammy" are adorable kittens who arrived at the HSOV on July 4, 2016 after they were found in the Belpre Ohio area. They were approximately 4-5 weeks old at that time and in desperate needs of attention, extra TLC, and first-aid treatment. Their eyes were matted and nearly swollen shut :( Thanks to the care they have been given by our wonderful HSOV kennel techs, they are looking and feeling so much better these days. This adorable brother/sister duo have brown tabby coats, long tails, and beautiful kitten faces. "Betsy & Sammy" are playful, affectionate youngsters who love attention. They have shared a cage since arriving at our shelter on the Fourth of July, and we would love for them to find a home together. They will be available for adoption as soon as they can be spayed/neutered. UPDATE: "Betsy & Sammy" were spayed/neutered on September 28, 2016, and they were also given rabies vaccine. They are now available for adoption/rescue/foster... Rescue groups may contact our Feline Rescue Coordinator via email ( We can usually help with transportation and also provide combo testing without charge to rescues/fosters.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Betsy & Sammy, a Marietta Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
