Duchess & Kittens's Story...
"Duchess" is a beautiful 2-year old mother kitty who was brought to the HSOV on July 8, 2016 along with her four 5-week old kittens. Mother "Duchess" has a brown tabby medium smooth coat with auburn highlights, a long tail, and a pretty face with golden eyes and long white whiskers. She has a calm, quiet disposition and is a fantastic mother who dearly loves her babies. There are three boys in the family (Berlioz, O'Malley, and Toulouse) and one girl (Marie). The kittens all have brown tabby coats, long tails, and adorable kitten faces. "Duchess" and her babies were very fortunate when one of our fabulous foster mothers took them home with her on August 3, 2016. They have been enjoying a real home with plenty of attention and TLC, and they are very socialized. Momma "Duchess" and all of her kittens LOVE the foster family's large dog, so we are sure they will do well with any cat-friendly dogs in their prospective homes. "Duchess" and her kittens were spayed/neutered on September 7, 2016 and were also given rabies vaccine. They have been given vaccinations and wormer and are ready to find new homes of their very own. Individual photos of Duchess, Berlioz, Marie, O'Malley, and Toulouse are posted under their names with descriptions on our petfinder/facebook pages. Please call the HSOV at 740.373.5959 or send a message to if you would like to meet Duchess or any other kittens. They are also available for rescue. Rescue groups may contact our Feline Rescue Coordinator via email ( We can usually help with transportation and also provide combo testing without charge to rescues/fosters.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duchess & Kittens, a Marietta Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
