Happy is a 6 years, 18 pound Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix. neutered and up to date on his shots and his adoption fee is $300.

Happy was once adopted domestically in Donghae by a family, but was the family lost him a week after adoption. Luckily, HDP volunteers were able to find Happy after over two months of searching. Now Happy is once again searching for a "furever" family of his own, hoping that the second time is a charm!

Happy is an energetic dog with some dog reactive behavior where he is sometimes calm and sometimes excited/barking at other dogs. Therefore, Happy would probably be best as an only dog or with a mellow female dog, and would definitely benefit a lot from proper training.

Prior to rescue, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period as the dog learns about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.

*Happy is currently in Donghae, Korea. If you would like to foster or adopt him, please email donghaepaws@gmail.com with a bit of information about yourself (e.g. your experience as a dog owner, your family and/or other pets, etc.) and your phone number. We are not restricted to any specific region within the U.S., and may accommodate your location. Please feel free to contact us and ask! A HDP volunteer will promptly respond to your email. Thank you!
