Facts about Queenie

  • Breed: Dachshund
  • Color: Black - With Tan, Yellow Or Fawn
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Queenie is a 12 year old purebred Dachshund that was rescued from a shelter in Owosso. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and she has had her teeth cleaned.
Queenie is listed as Special Needs because she has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease. Cushing's causes an over abundance of Cortisol in the body and makes dogs extremely thirsty and hungry. They also develop a pot bellied appearance and poor haircoat.
Queenie takes a special medicine called Vetoryl for her condition and is doing well.
We are looking for a loving adoptive home or a Forever Foster for her.
She needs to be seen for frequent blood work to make sure the Vetoryl is working well and to check her liver function.
Queenie is a very loving older girl. She prefers to be the only dog but will tolerate a dog larger than her. We have no idea how she would deal with a cat. We prefer a quiet home for her with No children. A fenced yard is a Must.
All of her medications and trips to the vet (Birmingham Vet Clinic In Birmingham) will be paid for by the rescue. All you have to do is supply love and care for this sweet girl. Contact Marie at 248-613-0824 for more info or email your contact info. PLEASE NO TEXTS. Thanks!

About Chipper's Doxie and Newfie Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a husband and wife team that adopted a senior dachshund from another rescue. We only had him in our life for 2 short months before he was called to the Rainbow Bridge. In our beloved Chipper's memory we decided to start rescuing dogs in shelters and pounds. It started with just Dachshunds and Newfoundlands and has branched out to all breeds. We take them to our vet where they are neutered/spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested and are checked for internal and external parasites. We then have them groomed and give them lots of love and attention until we can place them in their forever homes. We do all this at our own expense. It is extremely rewarding.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Please call Marie at 248-613-0824 anytime. I answer all calls promptly and return all emails. All dogs are at our home though we will sometimes go to pet stores to show them during the warmer months.

Our Adoption Process...

We do reference checks as well as home vists. Mixed breeds are $50-$75.
Dachshunds depending on age are $125 to a "donation from the heart". Newfoundlands and other giant breeds are $300 -$550. Adopters must sign an adoption contract and we will take back any dog during it's entire life time no questions asked.
