Hi friends!  My name is Annapolis!  I was found with my Mommy, Temple, and my siblings when I was only three weeks old, outside in Temple, MD, living in an air conditioning unit.  My Mommy and all of my siblings are named after places in Maryland to honor where we were found and rescued from.

We all immediately went into a wonderful foster family where we have been happy, safe, dry, and warm. We get to play with lots of toys while we grow big and strong.  Here is a video of us when we first got to our new foster home:

A few weeks after we got into our foster home, a new friend came to live with us.  Her name is Juniper and I have become very attached to her.  I am very much attached to and in love with my best friend and foster sister, Juniper. We want to be adopted together into the same loving home as a bonded pair.

There are many benefits for both humans and felines when adopting two compatible cats together. This is especially true when adopting two young kittens like us.

Same-species companionship greatly enhances our quality of life. We provide each other with stimulating play. We moderate each other's behavior. We burn off our energy together - this is very important for indoor housecats. We provide each other with grooming services free of charge. We sleep, cuddle and snuggle together.

We comfort each other and keep each other engaged when you are off doing the things that keep you away from us. In return, you get twice the love, affection and happiness. You have peace of mind knowing that when you have the leave us, we'll be fine together until you return.

We both love to have our bellies rubbed and cheeks and chins scratched.  We both love to be picked up and held like babies.  We also sit on your lap as much as you let us and love to ride on your shoulder or back if you let me.  Here is a video of me getting on my foster mommy’s back:

Some of our favorite things to do are to get lots of love and snuggles from humans and play with toys like laser lights and strings.  We also love milk bottle tops, curled up pipe cleaners, and puff balls.

We do great with kids, but prefer that they are gentle and not too loud - otherwise we will hide. We have not met a dog, but our foster mommy thinks we would do fine with a calm doggy and we both would do great with other cats as we have met our foster mommy’s cats and love them very much.

I was born in late April 2016 and Juniper was born in late June 2016. We are still little baby girls! We are so adorable that your heart will melt when you meet us! I am a gorgeous, plush little bundle of softness with a solid jet black coat. Juniper is a mocha tabby with cream and white tones and the most wonderfully exotic swirls and stripes you will find in a tabby.

Come on! Let's fall in love and start our new lives together! Please send an email to and ask for me, Annapolis, and my best friend, Juniper. We will be waiting to snuggle you! We cannot wait to meet you!

Lovingly yours,
Annapolis (with my best friend Juniper)

About King Street Cats

About Our Shelter...

We are proud to be the only cat-exclusive orphanage in Alexandria, Va. We have been in operation since 2003, and were previously known as The Albert Foundation for many years before becoming King Street Cats. Because we are a free-roaming and no-kill cat orphanage, we have the "cat-friendliest cats" in town! Our primary purpose is to educate and assist the community in regard to cat welfare, and to provide loving homes for the cats and kittens in our care. We accomplish this through outreach to the local community by providing information on proper cat care, behavioral problems and medical issues involving cats. We also assist local residents in locating and retrieving lost cats and assist individuals through the cat adoption process. We provide abandoned and rescued cats and kittens with a safe and secure temporary home until a permanent, loving home can be found.

We promote spaying and neutering and all our cats and kittens are sterilized and fully up-to-date on all medical care prior to adoption. We also provide post-adoption support for adopters and anyone else that needs cat care advice. Because we only work in the area of cat welfare .... we know cats! Please stop by and visit with our friendly cats.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Adoptions at 25 Dove St (the King Street Cat home) are every Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 pm

Additional Adoption Events:
- Petco at Beacon Hill on the first Saturday of the month (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
- Profeed at Bradlee Shopping Center on Saturdays and Sundays (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
- Petsmart at Falls Church on 3rd/4th Sunday of the month (1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is simple. When you come to the adoption center, you will fill out an application and a volunteer will interview you and ask about your cat knowledge and experience as well as your other pets. If your application is approved, they will help match you to the cat is perfect for your home and lifestyle. Some adult cats may be adopted singly, but we prefer to adopt out kittens in pairs unless you have a playful cat or dog already in residence to keep the kitten company.

King Street Cats asks for a $125 non-refundable adoption fee to adopt a cat or kitten, or $225 to adopt two. The fee includes:

- A cat that has been to a vet and tested for FELV/FIV. They are not put up for adoption unless the tests are negative (although sometimes we do have an FIV-positive cat that is healthy and can be adopted).
- An adult cat that is up-to-date on vaccinations before being made available for adoption. (Kittens will have had vaccinations appropriate for their age)
- Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption. Kittens are spayed/neutered between 12-14 weeks and are then available for adoption.
- Post-adoption support: our volunteers are very knowledgeable about cat care. We encourage adopters to call us with any questions.
