Millie is a super-cute, 4-year-old retriever mix with the very best smile! Millie caught our eye when the local shelter shared her story. She was found running down the street with a carabiner embedded in her neck. She was infested with ticks and emaciated. It was clear this girl had a VERY hard life so far. They actually guessed that she was a senior dog, from just looking at her. We went to the shelter expecting to pick up a very old dog, and were surprised by the spring in her step. Closer examination revealed that she was only about four years old! She was missing fur, her canine teeth were broken off, she was covered in scabs, and her ribs showed. It appeared she had been chained and neglected for a long time, and there was evidence she probably spent much of her life laying on the pavement. But, wow, the dog under that sad exterior? Nervous, yes, but just at first.. in no time, she was ASKING for attention. Loving to be petted, and when you stop, sometimes she gives you her paw as a HINT to give her some more love. She's loving to sit on comfy sofas and dog beds. Loving to eat all the yummy food now being offered to her. She's being treated like a dog should, and she's THRIVING. Did we mention her smile? Imperfect, yes. She has a bit of an underbite, you see. But it's a million-dollar smile and is contagious! Millie does great with other dogs. She plays well with dogs of all sizes! In her foster home, she's chased the cat a few times but isn't aggressive. She's gentle & sweet with people. She's still recovering from her years of neglect, but we bet she'll be the picture of health in no time. We're accepting applications on Millie now! *The application is the first step and must be completed before meeting the animal.* Adoption fee: $175, includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations to date, heartworm testing, deworming. About Good Karma Pet Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Good Karma Pet Rescue is a small network of foster homes in South Florida dedicated to providing dogs and cats in need with the love and help they need and deserve.

GK was started in 2011 by Stacey Chen, who decided that she could best provide for her foster animals by starting a rescue that aims for best care rather than high volume. We intend to stay as small as we need to be to ensure that every one of our foster animals is treated with the same care and respect we show our own furry family.

GK is based in Fort Lauderdale and is supported by wonderful, dedicated foster parents throughout the South Florida area. If you are interested in helping to save lives through volunteering, fostering, or adopting, please get in touch with us!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We meet potential adopters by appointment only, typically in the foster's or potential adopter's home. Dogs can be arranged to be seen at a local park or a similar location.

Our Adoption Process...

We have a quick but thorough adoption process. We ask you to fill out an application and we will touch base with you by phone. If we feel you are a good fit for the animal you would like to adopt based upon your application, we will want to do a home visit and have you meet the pet. If everything checks out, we will ask that you sign an adoption contract and pay a donation - usually $75 for cats and $150 for dogs. This includes all vetting, spay/neuter, vaccines, etc.

Our contract allows us to come visit you and your new family member after the adoption to make sure everything is going well and your new pet is happy & healthy.
