My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Spunky" is a cute senior (perhaps 12-13 years old) male Pomeranian/Terrier mix who was surrendered by his tearful owner on September 17, 2016 along with his housemate (Daisy Duke who is also known as Dukey). Their young mistress recently lost her job and could no longer take care of her beloved pets :( We had taken Spunky's photos in his cage shortly after his arrival, and he really didn't want to leave the little red bed that our kennel techs had given him. Those pictures were heartbreaking to say the least :( So we were thrilled to see him enjoying some out-of-cage time with one of our Humane Officers Misty Carpenter) on September 19th, and she was happy to accompany "Spunky" outdoors for some more flattering pictures in the sunshine. "Spunky" has a black short smooth coat with brown highlights (that actually looked auburn in the sunlight), a small patch of white on his chest, a long tail, and a sweet face with graying around his eyes/muzzle and short floppy ears. This older gentleman is ok with children, other dogs, and cats. According to his owner, he does tend to be protective of his food around other dogs (and after all, age has its privileges) . "Spunky" has been accustomed to taking short walks without a leash since collars/slip leashes make him nervous and has a fear of choking. "Spunky" has been kept indoors and is housebroken as long as he is kept on a regular routine. He has been neutered and has tested negative for heartworm. "Spunky" weighs 15 lbs. He is currently in foster care.
