Hi I'm Fancy! I love to relax where the people and other hounds are and having my neck and head scratched is a close second. I like toys but I'm not compulsive about them in any way. I haven't been on many leash walks, because I have a fenced yard to play in, but I'm definitely into them!  I have no major malfunctions! I'm a gentle, somewhat shy and reserved mama dog. I have no annoying personality traits (unless you are a cat or a small dog). I have a bit of an overbite, and a pair of perky, forward-facing ears.  I am pretty quiet. I like to nap a lot. I am not food motivated, and so far, am somewhat suspicious of food in general. I like to eat it later in the day, opposed to  my roommates. If I'm ready to eat, I'll eat like a pig, but if I'm not ready to eat, I'll look at you like you are putting a bowl of poop in front of me, which, by the way, I do not eat.  I get along with everyone I have met so far, which is lots of people older than 12, and excluding the cocker spaniel. I remain untested in the small child arena.

I would rather not sit through a thunderstorm, but if the windows are closed it's more or less bearable. I pant and worry a little.  I need a little more confidence on the stairs, but I'm pretty functional as it is.

According to my foster family and I quote: "Wow, what a great dog! Kind of a Mary Poppins--Practically Perfect in Every Way. If she starts to stray from perfection, she's easily corrected with a "no." I can't get a sense of whether she could be an only dog or not, we have no easy way of testing that. She sure integrated into our routine in just a couple days. She would get in bed if we let her (we don't) and would make an excellent snuggler. She currently sleeps with us and the other 3 dogs in the human bedroom (on a bed on the floor). She sleeps like a champ, no surprise there, though."

About Greyhound Pets of America - MN

About Our Rescue Group...

We are the Minnesota chapter of Greyhound Pets of America.

Greyhound Pets of America is a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation founded in 1987 for the purpose of finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds and educating the public on the suitability and availability of greyhounds as pets.

All of our greyhounds go into foster homes where they can acclimate to their new lives as retired racers. We also get a better idea of their personalities so we can make the best possible match with their new family.

We have found great success in matching the personalities of the greyhounds with the personalities of the new families. We test all our greyhounds to see if they can live with small animals and many of our greyhounds go on to live in families with other pets, including cats.

Greyhound Pets of America - Minnesota is run entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to the cause of rescuing retired greyhounds. GPA-MN and our volunteers are committed to making sure all our greyhounds have a happy, safe and long life while in our care as well as after they find their forever homes.

If you're planning to get a dog, we hope you will consider adopting one of our retired racers!
