Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This handsome gent is Tank; approximately 5 year old male American Bulldog. Tank was found as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter. He arrived with very serious open wounds all over him and it could be from being hit by a car or by being attacked by other dogs. His wounds are healed now, but he has significant scar tissue, particularly on one hind leg and less noticeable scars on his head and ears.
Tank is a gentle boy who weighs about 66lbs, but we are working to get weight on him because he is too thin. He responds well to correction, walks well on a leash, rides very well in a car and is a polite dog. He knows some commands like Sit and Stay. He does not have a high prey drive and would probably do okay in a home with a cat who is not afraid of him. Tank feels overwhelmed around a large pack of dogs, but will likely do okay in a home with a mellow, well adjusted dog like him. Tank is very good around all adult humans and is not startled by children; however, we are looking for a home with no children under 12 years old because of his size and because we do not know anything about his history prior to going to the shelter.
We do not know if Tank is housetrained but he is a fast learner and it would not take him long to catch on if he is not housetrained. We have not heard him bark and he doesn’t appear to be a big barker. He likes his Kong toys filled with peanut butter and enjoys treats. He is not destructive and does not tear up toys or his bed.
Tank is current on all of his vaccinations, is microchipped and will be neutered on October 13th. Tank’s adoption fee will be $200.00. If you are interested in applying for and meeting Tank, please email stmartinsanimalrescue@hotmail.com
