Olivia's Story...
There are many dogs who come through our doors and they are all sweet and deserve a home, but not all of them have suffered before coming to us. Olivia is one who suffered. She was found with a broken leg and a massive infection and no one really knows how long she endured this pain. Through all this she never lost her sweet and loving personality. Her condition is getting better every day, her leg is set and healing and she is ready for someone to give her the home she so deserves. She's a year old incredibly loving and beautiful Sheltie mix weighing in at 15 pounds and we know it will only take one minute for you to love her as much as we do.

For more information or to see Olivia, submit an online dog adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. After reviewing the application, staff will contact you—typically within 48 hours— to make an appointment to visit the farm where our dogs and horses are kept.

Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Come by and see us!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Olivia, a Fairfax Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Fairfax, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Fairfax.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fairfax already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fairfax breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fairfax paves the way for another one to be saved.
