I'm "Jelly Bean" and I'm a 4-month old black kitten who is now looking for a new residence. Would you like a nice black kitty to adorn your sofa--and your window sill--and your pillow--and your lap?!? Yes, I thought so!! I am very curious and like to check things out, so we can do that first thing when you get me home. Then I can check out all those cool places to cuddle! I am looking for someone who wants me furrever--like a furrever friend. I want someone who will treat me like a special kitty with lots of love and cuddling and treats. In return I will give you lots of love and cuddling and purring! It's a deal--come and meet me!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
