Facts about Riley

  • Breed: Dachshund Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Puppy
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
Riley is approximately 17 weeks old and ready for his forever home. He is a typical puppy in that he is super sweet and has lots of energy but he does have one unique feature. He has a lightening bolt on his side! Here is an upclose photo in case you really didn't believe me!!
We have no idea how this came about since he had it when he came to us. Now you probably think that Riley looks kind of like a miniature hound dog, right?
I bet you will be surprised to know that his momma was a long hair daschund. That's right. We saw a photo of her before she was rescued from the Chatham County Animal Shelter. So even though Riley has long legs we don't think he will get very big. When we last weighed him about two weeks ago he only weighed 8 pounds. He loves to play and would love to have a ready made playmate in his new home. He plays well with small and large dogs. Here he is playing with Sonny. It looks like Sonny was giving him a hug.
Riley will be a low maintenance pup in terms of his short coat but he will require lots of exercise and play time, especially while he is a growing puppy. He would prefer a home where someone is home most of the day who can give him the exercise he needs or where he has another dog to play with. He will be a much happier pup with one or both.

About Tysor Veterinary Clinic

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small veterinary practice located in a small town in a rural county in North Carolina. We have animals that are brought in as strays, owner surrendered, and brought to us by animal control when they have been picked up and are injured. We feel that every animals' life is worth saving and to the extent that we have room we accept these animals into our adoption program. Our staff work as a team and we are like family. We all work together to provide the best care for each animal and to treat each pet as if it were our own.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoptable animals are located at our clinic and our adoption building next door to our clinic. We are usually very busy in both buildings first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon with feeding, walking, and generally taking care of our adoptable animals. While you can come any time to visit the quietest time of the day is usually from around noon to 3:30pm.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption fee for most dogs is $150 and the adoption fee for most cats is $100. However, we sometimes have higher fees if we have information that a dog or cat is purebred. While we are happy to have you come and visit our adoptable animals at any time we would encourage you to fill our an application before you make the trip and to also check us about the best time to come to our facility. You can access our adoption application at our website, www.tysorvet.net. Go to the adoption tab and you will see the adoption application. We will check your previous and/or current vet reference as well as a personal reference. If you are approved and adopt an animal from us you will be asked to sign an adoption contract. If you adopt out an animal that is too young to be spayed/neutered we may require that you pay a deposit that will be refunded at the time of surgery.
