A little information about Calvin...
Hi! My name is Calvin and you will have to excuse me as I'm still a little shell-shocked. See, I'm only barely 7mos old and found myself being dumped at a scary place called a shelter by someone I thought was going to love me forever. The only good thing was foster mom (FM) was standing there when the lady was handing me over at the shelter and said she just didn't have time for me . . . FM whispered to the lady behind the counter not to take me to the back, that she would take me and help me find a forever home that would never throw me away like that so I didn't have to stay there long at all! FM says that while I didn't come with any paperwork, I look just like a beautiful black poodle and she overheard the mean lady say she had gotten me from a breeder. The same lady also said she had two young kids and that I did fine with them and that I was real friendly so I'm still not sure what I could have done wrong. It couldn't be because I take up much room as I'm only around 10lbs and shouldn't get too much bigger. FM says that she will update my bio as soon as she learns a little more about me but did said to tell you that I did real good on the ride home in my crate . . . I didn't bark at all and waited until she got me out to use the bathroom. Event information....
We are open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm. All final decisions are made by the rescues not Homeward Bound volunteers. If you are interested in this dog or any of our dogs please go to www.homewardboundct.org (copy and paste in browser window) and see all of the dogs coming and also fill out an application). Please note that most of these dogs are not in Connecticut and will be arriving the day prior so it is most likely not possible for you to meet them prior to the event.
If you are a first time dog owner we may require a home visit prior to adoption.
If you rent or live in a condo we will require proof that you are able to have a dog. This could be a copy of the lease or condo agreement.
All the residents in the household must come to the event along with any dog in your home for a meet and greet with our trainers.
Per the request of the rescues we may limit adoptions to only Connecticut homes due to the distance and support we give them. This again is strictly the rescues decision and hope you will honor that.
We also require a follow up visit with all families within a couple of months after the adoption.
Since we know there are many questions, please realize we will answer questions of those who have filled out an application first.
Adoption Fee is no more than $385. All dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated to age and also microchipped.
If you have additional questions about our dogs feel free to contact us. Please understand that we are all volunteers and will try to get back to you as soon as possible. If it is close to our event we are very busy with pre-screening our applicants so please understand if we can't answer all your questions in a timely manner. Our goal is to make sure these dogs go to the best home possible.
