Facts about Gemma $1500

  • Breed: Quarterhorse/Paint/Pinto Mix
  • Color: Chestnut/Sorrel
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Medium
  • Sex: Female
Gemma is a 4 year old, 14 hand pony with a great future! She's assumed to be a Quarter Horse with some Paint lineage. She's priced at only $1500 currently though that will increase with further training. Located in Greenwood SC.
Gemma has excelled at training and very quickly went from barely halter broken to having a solid walk/trot/lope both in the arena and out on trails. She is still green, having only 30 days training so far, with about 20 rides. Training has been done by Alexandria Dodgen Addison at Sweet Carolina Acres. She's learned to lead, trailer load, stand quietly for the farrier, do several groundwork exercises, as well as started under saddle. She is a very laid back filly with great potential as a kid's pony though she hasn't had enough training for a beginner yet. At this point, we'd recommend an experienced rider if you want to take her home right away. Alternately, a less experienced rider could purchase her and have her stay in professional training (with our trainer or your trainer) another 30 to 90 days.
We'd love to discuss Gemma with you more - post any questions here or email us at To meet and ride her, we ask that you first fill out an adoption application at We'll be back in touch within a couple days - email if you don't hear from us right away.
Gemma is current on her basic vaccines, Coggins, hoof care, and dentistry. She's microchipped and has had a recent vet exam. She's barefoot with good hooves.
Then we can set up a time to come see her, observe our trainer ride her, and then try her out for yourself!
Our adoptions include full ownership including right to resale if it were to become necessary in the future. Gemma will sell with a no breeding contract.

About CARE - Crossroads Animal Rescue

About Our Shelter...

CARE was founded to decrease euthanasias in Oconee County, SC. We primarily aquire animals from the local animal control. Most of these pets would be euthanized if we did not take them. Once in our program, they are adopted out through us or transfered to another rescue/shelter where they are not at risk for euthanasia.
We work primarily with puppies and kittens as this is the age group most likely to be euthanized at our local animal control.
Our equine rescues are primarily neglect cases from animal control. We design feeding programs for them to gain weight back safely, provide hoof care, and treat any medical problems. Once healthy enough to adopt, we find them loving homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Come to 8409 W. Oak Hwy, Seneca, SC anytime during business hours to meet our on-site pets. Our on-site pets are primarily puppies in the 4-6 month range and all ages of kittens and cats. To meet a pet in a foster home (this includes most young puppies as well as most adult dogs and all the horses), call or email to schedule a time. We will arrange to have the dogs/puppies brought to the clinic for you to meet or arrange for you to go to the foster home where the horse is staying.
We periodically have adoption events where we take some of our adoptable pets. Follow us on Facebook to learn of adoption events.

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt a pet from CARE, contact us and give us the information for our adoption application. This can be via phone or by going to our website, downloading the adoption application, and filling it out and emailing it to us.
Once we receive your application, we will contact your vet references and review the application to approve you. This can usually be done on the same day you apply. Sending in the application does not obligate you to adopt.
You may meet our onsite pets prior to filling out the application if you prefer. For off site pets, we do request an approved application before scheduling a meeting.
To adopt after being approved, you simply pay the adoption fee and take your new family member home! You may adopt over the phone and then schedule to travel to meet your new pet. Adopting over the phone does require paying the adoption fee which is non-refundable if you change your mind about adopting.
Adoption fees vary depending on which pet you are interested in. These are often listed on the pet's profile but if not, feel free to email or call to ask.
We are available for phone calls weekdays 8a-5p and Saturdays 8a-Noon. You will reach the receptionist for Crossroads Animal Hospital which is the vet hospital who founded CARE. After working hours, we can be reached via email which is usually checked daily but may take up to 48 hours for a reply.
